Jayear Flores is Freed of Double Murder of Tyler Savery and Porshan Pipersburgh

Jayear Flores

Two murder trials fell apart in the Supreme Court today. In the shocking double murders of Porshan Pipersburgh and seven-year-old school boy, Tyler Savery, the accused murderer, twenty-one-year-old Jayear Flores walked free. The minor and his cousin were gunned down, execution style, as Pipersburgh traveled on bike to take Tyler for a smoothie at Moon Clusters on Daly Street. A gun man pursued them by vehicle and opened fire, killing Tyler on the spot while Pipersburgh died at the K.H.M.H. The trial for Flores began this morning before Justice Colin Williams. The owner of the vehicle, Cedric Usher, told the court that his vehicle was jacked by three persons near the town clock on Barack Road and was later used to commit the crime.  But the judge did not allow a dock identification of the alleged gunman since Usher did not provide a description in his 2016 statement to police.  Crown counsel Porsha Staine Ferguson closed her case against the accused and his attorney, Yohhanseh Cave, made a no case submission which was upheld by Justice Williams. And so Flores was freed in the killing which shocked the community and gave birth to the ‘Light our Hearts’ movement by Tyler’s mother, Shakira Young.
