Meerabux lawyer cancels press conference

Story Picture
Earlier this month Governor General Sir Colville Young informed Supreme Court Justice George Meerabux that he has been removed from office based on several allegations of misconduct during his tenure as a judge. On Thursday Meerabux’s attorney, Kirk Anderson, called News 5 to say that his client will file an application for judicial review and promised to outline the case on Monday. Monday’s press conference was cancelled and Anderson rescheduled the meeting with journalists for ten a.m. today. But after waiting fifteen minutes Anderson changed his mind, saying that if he could not air the press conference live on the radio he would not grant interviews to the rest of the press. At news time, no radio station had yet taken Anderson up on his offer, although he was said to be seeking a slot on the morning talk show circuit. Meanwhile, in a telephone interview this morning with Senior Counsel and member of the Bar, Lois Young-Barrow, she told News 5: “Mr. Meerabux is entitled to work the appeal process, but as far as I’m concerned he’s wasting his time and other people’s time in the process.”
