G.G. gives Meerabux his walking papers

It has been rumoured all week and now it has been confirmed. Acting on the advice of the Belize Advisory Council, Governor General Sir Colville Young has informed Supreme Court Justice George Meerabux of his removal from office. The Meerabux case was submitted to the Advisory Council by a broad coalition of members of the bar, who made several allegations of misconduct on the bench. Meerabux’s attorney, Kirk Anderson, told News 5 that his client will file an application for judicial review and take other steps to challenge the decision. Anderson has agreed to speak more fully to the press on Monday.
