Five receive Chevening scholarships
Five Belizeans have been selected as recipients of postgraduate scholarships in the United Kingdom. The one-year of study at top universities is sponsored by the British High Commission under the Chevening Scholarships Programme. This year’s scholars are; Inspector of Police Elodio Aragon Junior, who will study for a master’s degree in criminology at the University of Leicester. Perla Hinojosa, minister counsellor at Belize’s Embassy of Mexico will do her year at Oxford University’s foreign service programme. Duane Belisle of the Ministry of Economic Development will work towards a masters in industrialisation, trade and economic policy at Strathclyde University. Wilbert Ramclam of the Banana Growers Association will study crop production at the University of Reading, while Attorney Antoinette Moore will undertake a twenty-seven month distance learning course leading to a masters in human rights law from Oxford University. Among past recipients of the Chevening scholarships are News 5’s Ann-Marie Williams and Janelle Chanona.
