1 of 3 Escaped Prisoners Still on the Lam

Meanwhile two of three prisoners who escaped from the Central Prison are back behind bars in Hattieville. Christian Neal, Rafael Mencias and Wilser Echevarria were incarcerated for different crimes from carnal knowledge to murder and manslaughter and escaped on Tuesday afternoon. Mencias was captured soon after, while Echevarria was re-detained by prison authorities on Wednesday. Neal, however, remains at large. He is a resident of San Ignacio who was charged for carnal knowledge and imprisoned. Today, at its biweekly press brief, police made an official statement on the incident saying that Neal is not considered dangerous.

“Sometime after one p.m. on Tuesday, police were called to Belize Central Prison where they were informed that three prisoners escaped from the garden area, section one, while they were doing some farming. The three prisoners that escaped were Rafael Mencias, Wilser Echevarria and Christian Neal. Out of those three prisoners, I know that two have been captured; one was captured on the same day and the other one on the following day. Mister Echevarria was captured on the following day.”
