Patrick Castillo Not Guilty of Murder; Acted in Self-Defence
A father accused of killing his twenty-one-year-old stepson was acquitted today after a judge found him not guilty. Patrick Castillo chopped Jose Yontan Maderos as many as four times to his neck, head, shoulder and back. This afternoon, Justice Colin Williams ruled that Castillo acted in self-defence because there was provocation. Patrick’s trial started on March twenty-fifth, 2019 and concluded in a trial by judge without jury on April twelfth with a decision delivered today. The court heard that Maderos came home drunk and after Castillo’s daughter complained about him harassing her, the stepfather ended up in an altercation with the deceased. They struggled and Jose was chopped and died on the spot.
