‘Danny’ Mason et al Still Facing Charges for the Kidnapping of Mennonite Couple
William ‘Danny’ Mason et al are also facing kidnapping charges. They stand accused of kidnapping Mennonite businessman Lloyd Thiessen and his wife in May 2016. The Thiessens reportedly handed over three hundred thousand dollars to Mason for the importation of corn. The corn was never imported and things went sour when Thiessen attempted to recover his money. Mason’s attorney, Guyanese Dexter Todd was asked how that case will be handled moving forward and given the change of attorneys.

“That is not something that we clarified in court but I would predict that the charges are not joined. We would want to look at the trial that has already commenced and in the conclusion of that matter and then set an appropriate time to start the kidnapping. The court did say that there is no case management in that matter in terms of the kidnapping. I would suppose that is one of the matters, initiative that must take place. So I would suppose or probably predict that we would start that after. I don’t have difficulty in completing the trial and then returning at some appropriate time for that trial. I love Belize.”
