Several Arrests Made in Weekend Shootings
An altercation at a popular entertainment event last Saturday in Belize City ended with multiple shots being fired during an ambush at the corners of Baymen Avenue and Calle al Mar. Three persons, including Ronald Michael, his common-law wife Allane Usher and Christopher Hyde, were reportedly waylaid by twenty-five-year-old Kendale Greene as they drove in the area. During the shooting incident, Michael and Hyde were both injured, while their female passenger escaped unscathed. On Thursday, Green, who is no stranger to the law, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being arraigned on related charges. In a related incident involving the shooting of Jamal Palacio and Justin Stuart, police have arrested and charged twenty-two-year-old Tareek Smith. Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo provides additional details.

“The shooting involving Mr. Ronald Michael, police arrested and charged Kendale Green, twenty-five-year-old Belizean of an Antelope Street Extension address for one count of wounding, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of use of deadly means of harm. Reference the shooting of Jamal Palacio and Justin Stuart, police arrested and charged Tareek Smith, twenty-two-year-old Belizean of a Raccoon Street Extension [address] for two counts of attempted murder, two counts of use of deadly means of harm, one count of dangerous harm and one count of wounding. We suspect that it stemmed out from a party that happened Saturday night to bring in Sunday morning and on that [night] they called it Project X, I believe, some misunderstanding happened with some group of persons at that location which resulted in the shooting of Mr. Michael. And also, I mentioned that this shooting with Palacio is also related to the shooting with Michael.”
