Belize Peace Movement Takes Up the Special Agreement Challenge
The People’s United Party has formally withdrawn a case against the Government of Belize in which it was challenging in the Supreme Court the legality of the Special Agreement signed between Belize and Guatemala in 2008. On Monday, Leader of the Opposition John Briceño made the announcement during a Special Sitting of the House of Representatives, but just a few days prior, Cayo South Area Representative Julius Espat welcomed the idea of other individuals taking up the case.

“The case has already gone in, the claim is there if anybody wants it they just have to put their name and continue it. So let’s see which other Belizeans want to take up the baton. We are now geared up for a general election, that is our focus. We are here to bring down this government and that is what we will do. We will work as hard as we can to beat them in the next general elections, that is our mission and so we are comfortable with that.”
