Officials Say RTA Victim was Overtaking

The official police report, has Jessica Heusner labeled as ‘Jane Doe’ until DNA testing can confirm that it was her in the SUV that crashed and burned. A post mortem examination is expected to reveal if Heusner died as a result of the impact, from smoke inhalation or the flames. Station Supervisor at the National Fire Service, Kenneth Mortis, shared what firefighters saw when they arrived on mile eleven of the George Price Highway last night.

Kenneth Mortis, Station Supervisor, National Fire Service

“On arrival we found the remains of an unidentified SUV fully engulfed in fire. We got into operation, extinguishing the blaze and we started our investigation during that time we then learned that the driver of the vehicle, an unknown female, was trapped in the vehicle and succumbed to the injuries of the fire. It is or job to extinguish fires regardless the type whether it be a structure, or vehicular. In that case the magnitude posed no different to us. We had to do what we were called to do. It was an unfortunate tragedy after the fire was extinguished based on our findings. We did some investigation and we found out that the vehicle was driven at the time by an unknown female who was apparently coming from Belmopan en route to Belize City whereby she made an attempt to overtake one of these trailers and unfortunately somehow ran into another trailer on the opposite side of the road. The head on collision caused the vehicle simultaneously burst into flames and that is where she succumbed to her injuries. It is a gruesome sight and it is not one you would want to indulge into. I’ll leave it at that.”

“Would it be the impact of the accident that would have caused her death or the subsequent fire?”

Kenneth Mortis

“I could be the combination of both. I will leave that to the forensic to determine his ruling and his findings. Speed combined with the impact could have sent her in a trap state. You know mangled vehicle and flesh always trap you between those elements and then the fire. I am only throwing out there so the general populace can have an idea what metal versus flesh can do. The medical practitioner will definitely forward his findings his actual cause of death regarding this individual.”
