Fuller: UDP standard bearer in Albert

Story Picture
On the political scene, the UDP standard bearer has been chosen for the Albert Division, and he might not be who you think. The campaigns were vigorous and candidates confident but in the end, the one who emerged victorious was Sydney Fuller. Fuller beat out his competitors, Delroy Cuthkelvin and Dale Trujeque by significant margins. Official numbers from the UDP Secretariat give Fuller two hundred and ninety votes, Cuthkelvin eighty-eight and Trujeque thirty-four. Fuller says his victory is evidence of his connection to the voters.

“A lot of hard work, that I put in the division. I been doing a house to house campaign with the people and I think the people just come out and put the man that they think will be the a fit person or a person to run the division for the upcoming election, 2003.

I think if I continue my work and work a little harder, I could be successful. It’s a lot of work and to win, you need to put in work. If I can maintain that, then I can see victory at the end.”

In the blue corner, the People’s United Party elected a new party chairman over the weekend. Vildo Marin was chosen over Mike Espat to take over the position vacated earlier this month by Jorge Espat. The rest of the Central Executive remains the same and all members will be ratified at the PUP National Convention on September ninth.
