Mental Health Patient Remanded Pending Psychiatric Evaluation
A mental health patient is arraigned and remanded to jail pending psychiatric evaluation. Collin Francis Junior appeared before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson, charged for the attempted murder of psychiatric nurse practitioner, Augustina Elijio. On Tuesday morning, Francis Junior visited the Port Loyola Health Centre and was given his treatment. He returned in the afternoon, reportedly agitated, and ended up stabbing Nurse Elijio multiple times. She remains in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. This morning, Francis Junior was escorted into the courtroom with handcuffs on both hands and shackled at the waist and feet. He was read three indictable charges of: attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. Senior Magistrate Anderson explained to the accused that his case will be dealt with at the Supreme Court and that a plea would not be taken. She also ordered that a psychiatric evaluation be done on Francis Junior. It was revealed in court today that while the mental state of the accused is being questioned, there are no records of Francis Junior being a patient at the Port Loyola Health Centre. He is due back in court on July twenty-ninth, 2019.
