Michael Young Perishes in Fatal RTA in Belize City

Twenty-five-year-old Michael Young lost his life this morning in an accident on the Phillip Goldson Highway near mile four.  Shortly after four o’clock, police were called to the scene of a collision.  When they arrived at the location they observed a red Saturn Vue on the highway with major damage to the front end of the vehicle.  Inside the SUV they also observed a male passenger motionless.  He was later identified as Michael Young, a resident of Victoria Street.  Also inside the vehicle was thirty-eight-year-old Evan Gillett who was seen bleeding from the face.  The men were immediately transported to the K.H.M.H. where Young was pronounced dead on arrival.  An investigation into the accident reveals that both men were traveling towards Belize City from Ladyville when Gillett reportedly crashed into a metal lamp post on the median.  Both men sustained head and body injuries.  Police continue to investigate this incident.
