Traffic mishaps kill three

A traffic accident on the Western Highway has claimed two lives. thirty-four year old Floyd Moro and seventy-three year old Daria Polanco, both of San Ignacio, died from severe head and body injuries following a head on collision near mile twenty. Moro and Polanco had been travelling east towards Belize City when they collided with a grey Mazda driven by Arthur Hoy Junior. Moro was pronounced dead on arrival at the K.H.M.H. while Polanco succumbed to her injuries around three this afternoon. Hoy and his passenger, Arthur Somerville, are being treated for abrasions, chest and back pains. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, another accident, this time in Belmopan, claimed the life of a pregnant woman on Friday night. Twenty year old Elizabeth Hellis was walking on the San Martin Road when she was hit by a Toyota Camry being driven by twenty-seven year old William Coye. Coye later told Police that Hellis, six months pregnant, started crossing the street without any indication and he could not avoid hitting her. She was taken to the Belmopan hospital and later transferred to the K.H.M.H. where she died of her injuries. Coye has not been charged.
