Morgan Heritage arrives for two concerts
It’s classic reggae with more love than edge. And the band that made it famous, Morgan Heritage, is in the country for two big concerts. News 5’s Jacqueline Woods was on hand as the talented Jamaican family touched down at the airport.

It all started with Daddy Denroy Morgan. Morgan says it was in the early 60s when the family started to rehearse for hours in the basement of their New York home. That work culminated with the birth of the Morgan Heritage band. However, it was not until the 80s that the band started playing professionally. The Morgan children had all completed music school and were now ready to go public. Since then the band has produced several hits including “Reggae bring back love” and “Don’t Haffi Dread to be Rasta”.
Today, the reggae group arrived in Belize to perform for two nights only. Shalue Butcher, the concert’s promoter says Belizeans won’t be disappointed.

“You should expect the best of entertainment. The show is going to start at eleven ‘o clock, which is important for people to know. Lots of times these shows start a little later. At eleven o’ clock this band will go on and this band will go a non stop set. They have informed me that will come back for an encore if the people want it and I know they are going to want it. So we are expecting a good two and a half hour show.”
It is the first time the band is in the country and Morgan says he and his five children are excited about meeting their Belizean fans.

“It’s a Caribbean atmosphere and I understand our music has been accepted by the Belizean people. We are here to share the positive vibration, the Rastaman vibration, the spiritual upliftment to the revolutionary vibes of revolutionised mind and the spirit of our people to bring about the consciousness that will save the music and preserve humanity, equality, justice, love and peace for all mankind.”
“We just want to tell them to come out with the feeling of one love. Come out be expected to be spiritually uplifted and enlightened. Come out and be ready to be revolutionised. Come out with an open mind, with a oneness of heart. Come out to have a good time because we are here with a positive vibration.”
The first concert takes place at the Novelo’s Convention Centre in Cayo on Friday and the second on Saturday night at the Belize City Centre. The gates open from 8:00 in the night, so don’t be late. Reporting for News 5, Jacqueline Woods.
