Guatemalan Man Busted With Firearms & Ammunition at Western Border
A Guatemalan man is in police custody facing firearm charges. His name is Romeo Cardona Zepata who, on Saturday afternoon, was spotted in the parking lot on Belize’s side of the western border. A search of his person resulted in officers discovering a nine-millimeter pistol and a shotgun. Offices also found ammunition for both firearms inside his vehicle. Investigators are working on determining Zepata’s purpose in Belize and why he was armed and in possession of ammunition at the border.

“Police found on him a nine millimeter pistol. A further search of a Hilux pickup police discovered a 12 gauge shotgun along with an assortment of ammunition for the pistol and the shotgun. Romeo Cardona Zepata has since been charged with two counts of possession of unlicensed firearm and two counts of possession of unlicensed ammunition.”
