Hofius robbed through display window
Last night’s stormy weather may have been fit for neither man nor beast…but it seems to have been custom made for a daring thief. Sometime during the night, the heavy rain was used to cover a break in at Hofius on Albert Street. The burglar or burglars entered the building by removing a plate of glass window at the entrance. Gerald Smith, Hofius’ accounts supervisor, says they first noticed the break-in when an employee went to open the store around 8:00 a.m. and saw the glass window resting against the building.

“We thought that this wouldn’t happen because of the view and apparently that also helped, because apparently they did not break in any further into the store to try and steal other stuff because of the view from outside. They just managed to have stolen stuff in the immediate area once they got into the store. Once they got inside the store they mainly went with stuff just within that vicinity which is mainly bicycles and some tools. It might be easy to recover the items because we do an inventory of the items that we have and probably with the police help we will be able to recover those items and the thieves.”
The thieves made off with three mountain bikes valued at two hundred and fifty dollars each, three scooters and an assortment of tools. If you have any information that could lead to the recovery of the stolen items please call the nearest police station.
