Heartless thief takes tools from Habitat

Story Picture
If you need any proof that the devil is alive and well in Belize, you need not look any further than the latest building site of Habitat for Humanity. We reported on Wednesday that dozens of Belizeans were providing volunteer labour to construct the house of Elsa Augustine on Police Street. This morning workers arrived only to find that some key tools had been stolen, including a Skilsaw, two drills and a paint gun with fifty feet of hose. Construction supervisor Kenrick Logan says that although the theft has delayed work, the project continues.

“When I arrived and my tools wasn’t here I got so frustrated and I couldn’t refocus myself until a little bit later during the day. I’m very surprised. I think it is just a downright mean act and whoever did it has no concern for neighbours or for any person in society. And the truth is our tools are marked and so if people purchase them I will be able to recognise them because there is a mark on all Habitat tools.”

The tools are valued at over two thousand dollars. If you can assist Habitat for Humanity in recovering the items, please contact the organisation at telephone number 76818.
