Cabinet approves plan for youth employment
In news from Cabinet, that body has approved a project to put unemployed young people to work. As many as three hundred youths, not enrolled in any school or vocational programme, will be able to take advantage of a six month paid apprenticeship with various business houses or tradesmen. Government will provide the apprentices with a sixty-dollar a week stipend during the six-month period in the hope that by the end of that time they will have enough skills to be absorbed into the regular work force. Those people interested in hosting apprentices are asked to contact the Labour Department office in their area.
