Water problems plague San Pedro
At newstime, residents of San Pedro were still without water after that town’s sole supplier of the precious commodity detected traces of an oil like substance in the water supply and shut down its operations to investigate. The cut off came Monday morning at around eight and since that time officials of Belize Water Limited–not to be confused with Belize Water Services–have been working around the clock to put things right. Belize Water has supplied WASA, and more recently its successor B.W.S., with desalinised water since 1996. B.W.S. then distributes the water throughout the town. A release from B.W.S. says that its holding tanks are being thoroughly cleaned and the system should be back in operation at any time.
