French National is Assaulted in Sarteneja, but Can’t Remember by Who

He arrived in Belize via the northern border with Mexico on Sunday night, and by Monday evening, French national Gabriel Jacket was hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. for injuries he sustained to his head. According to Jacket, he made his way to Sarteneja Village earlier that morning and set up a hammock on the beach. He, however, cannot recall whether he was attacked or robbed. ACP Joseph Myvett told News Five today that the investigation continues even though officers have not been able to gather useful information.

“What we know so far in relation to that incident is that a concerned citizen from Sarteneja Village called the police on Monday afternoon sometime around two p.m. and reported that he found a male person later identified as Gabriel Jacket, twenty-four years French tourist, in Sarteneja somewhere along the sea side bleeding from his head. As a result, he was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital and later to the K.H.M.H. where he was in a stable condition. He has since been released from the hospital and a statement was recorded from him. He cannot recall what occurred and also he could not say whether or not anything was stolen. So the police had canvassed the area, however, no useful information have been gathered so far. It is still an ongoing investigation; the area, as I mentioned before, is an isolated area where he was found.”
