Two men charged with trafficking 2 pounds of cannabis
In more news from the courts, one of two prison officers finds himself tonight on the opposite side of prison bars. He was unable to meet bail for allegedly trying to smuggle about two pounds of cannabis into the prison. Twenty-nine year old Eloy Shedrack Martinez and thirty-nine year old Dehinde Fashanu were additionally charged with Drug Trafficking. The two Belize City residents pleaded not guilty to the charges and a bail of five thousand dollars was offered. Fashanu was able to meet bail, but Martinez could not come up with the money and was remanded to prison. The incident occurred on Wednesday when both men were busted by co-workers during a routine search. Martinez was found with over a pound of cannabis in his boxer shorts and Fashanu was found with the drugs in his footwear. While Martinez is expected to return to court on May nineteenth, Fashanu’s case was adjourned until June ninth.
