Video shows numerous shots fired on bridge
For those who didn’t see last night’s newscast we will replay the short clip which shows the first gunshots recorded by our camera on Monday. These are not those well documented M-16 rounds fired by Captain Borland from the bridge, but those which came from a number of different sources, all apparently handguns being fired in the air. The following footage shows eight distinct shots being fired from at least three different guns. The tape will first roll in real time and then repeated in slow motion.
Of the eight shots fired, a detailed study by News 5 technicians reveal that while the last three can clearly be traced to Sylvestre, the shooters of the first five can be identified only as what appear to be police officers on the front line. As we take the time to closely examine the footage, it is becoming apparent that there were more people firing weapons than originally reported. A commission of inquiry appointed by the Prime Minister as well as separate investigations by police and B.D.F. will soon be examining the events which transpired on Monday.
