Jankunu Productionz and Oliver Samuels Team Up for a Master Class in Theater
We also spoke with two of the minds behind Jankunu Productionz. Sandra McKay and Julie Ann Bradley told us more about the play, ‘Frenemy’ and an accompanying master class in theater that’s being led by Samuels.

“It is something that is a little different in terms of we have been involved in a lot of musical comedy sort of plays but this one has a little bit more drama to it and in true Oliver style he knows how to bring over the drama with the humor at the same time. So, in and of itself the word “frenemy” speaks to that thin rope that we walk sometimes deciding where you are in terms of the relationship. So, that is interesting to come and see how that unfolds and as it unfolds the laughter that you get will certainly give you a lot of that feel good.”

“The master class workshop started today and continues tomorrow. It is bringing together talent from all over Belize. We have teachers, community leaders and those interested in the performing arts. It has been wonderful. Oliver has been sharing from his experience. We have had Michael Coye and other persons in the arts. We will have Althea Sealy, Carlos Perrote tomorrow and Oliver will be getting into some of the more practical things. So, if you missed day one, it is possible that we can find some space for you on day two. It has been really good and one of the things we have been talking about is the possibility of launching a school for the performing arts in Belize. We also, today, launched the Jankunu Productionz scholarship initiative which will see four scholars going to students in the performing arts this year.”
