Prime Minster thoughtful about Earth Day
And while we reported earlier in the newscast about major environmental damages to two reserves, at Wednesday’s press conference, Prime Minister Dean Barrow was effusive of the bountiful flora of the country. This is what he had to say.
Prime Minster Dean Barrow
“I wanted to recognize Earth Day. I believe we all know that Earth Day is celebrated today, the twenty-second of April, as a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth, the environment. I believe that especially in this time of climate change, there is additional significance to the celebration of Earth Day. I also believe that Belize have a rock to be proud of. We have approximately thirty percent of our national land under some kind of protection arrangement and while there is still a ways to go, it seems to me that we have made an excellent start.”
