WPC’s Hand Seriously Injured By Fellow Police Officers
After the brawl, several witnesses went to the Caye Caulker Police station to file a statement of what they saw. They, however, were turned away and prohibited to enter the police station. Women Police Officer, Arbunie Claire attempted to file a witnessed statement but according to reports, she was manhandled and thrown in jail. During the process, her hand was reportedly broken and she was refused medical attention.

“I met with this morning and it is clear that her hand was seriously injured. I have not gotten the medical form that establishes that it was broken and so I am going to go back to try and get that from her. The bottom line here is that her line did not need to be seriously injured in the course of an investigation which simply required the police to collect eye witness statements of what transpired. She was shoved in a cell overnight. Her request for medical attention was ignored.”
To add insult to injury, Claire is the only person who has been charged as a result of the brawl. Documents show that she was charged with ‘resisting lawful arrest’, ‘using insulting words’ and ‘boisterous behavior.’
