Holdups hit shops in Belmopan, Independence
In other crime news Belmopan was the scene of an armed robbery on Saturday night. Two men, one of whom brandished a pistol, held up the New Capital Restaurant for a thousand dollars in cash and then escaped. On Friday afternoon Independence Village was the scene of a similar crime, only a knife was the weapon was the weapon of choice. A single assailant entered the shop of ninety-four year old William Logan and after hitting the proprietor on the head and placing the knife to his throat, finally made off with three hundred and eighty dollars. A suspect has been detained pending charges.
