Belize and Suriname team up for Technical Exchange in the Cultural Sector
Last month, Belize and Suriname teamed up for a technical exchange in the cultural sector. It marked the first phase of a project where both countries will share expertise on how archaeological and heritage sites are conserved and managed. During their visit to Belize, the Surinamese team visited archaeological sites, historic cemeteries and participated in an excavation at one of the Maya Archaeological Sites. The team will report on their observations and findings and will make recommendations for the improved conservation and management of Belize’s Maya Archaeological and built-heritage sites. In October, the Belize team will travel to Suriname for a similar mission. The exchange was funded by UNESCO.
