KTV the Remix, Season 3 Opens with a Bang

KTV, the Remix opened with a bang on Tuesday night at the Bliss and is poised to remain the hottest summer show on local television. First on stage was Marlyn Vansen, the new judge, who did not disappoint with her opening number comprising a medley and a rendition of Selena’s ‘Como La Flor.’  The team that will go on to compete for the rest of the season rocked the stage mostly impressing the panel of judges with their performances. News Five’s Duane Moody looks at the opening show and the battle round that energized the audience at the Bliss auditorium and at home.

…and with that, the official launch of the stage performances from KTV the Remix, Season Three concluded on Tuesday night. The three-hour show was filled with excitement and surprises, including the reveal of the mystery judge, Marlyn Vansen.

[Highlights of the show…]

After some house cleaning, the competition began. Ten artists, five males and five females, song various genres of music:

Tifara Lindo with her cover of Beyonce’s I’d Rather Go Blind

Ronnel Torres and She’s Not Crying Anymore from Billy Ray Cyrus

Dawn Penn’s No No No was taken on by Amber Almendarez

There was a hip hop piece, Location performed by Orelle Castillo

Also from the south, Maureen Budram did Talking to the Moon from Bruno Mars

Among the big voices was Stephanie Darker who did her cover of Amy Winehouse’s Rehab

If you are a Daniel Bedingfield fan, Tyrone Jones took on “If You’re Not the One”

Israel Castillo braved Vince Gill’s Look at Us

…while Queen of the Bay 2018 Jenny Lee Cruz graced the stage and performed Sam Smith’s “I’m not the only one.”

And rounding out the ten selected participants is Christian Castillo with Let me Love You from Mario.

But if you thought those performances were all that were in store for the night, think again. The energy at the Bliss ballooned when the contestants went head to head in a live vocal battle to win an additional five points from the judges. It’s one of the new features of the show that had viewers as well as the audience out of their seats.

Alisha, Audience Member, KTV the Remix

“So far the show has been really great. It is better than I expected it to be.”

Duane Moody

“Do you agree with the results that the judges have chosen; the persons who would get that extra five points so far?”

Alisha

Alisha

“Yes. Honestly yes. Most of them.”

Duane Moody

“Talk to us about what you mean by most of them?”

Alisha

“I thought at some points during the show, there were some scores that I didn’t really agree with. But the judges know best, so I’ll leave it at that.”

Duane Moody

“And in the battle just now, I think you were saying earlier that you felt Orelle deserved that win just now.”

Alisha

”Honestly I thought that they were both great, but I think he pulled off Sam Smith’s part better.”
