Producers exhibition opens at Princess
The second annual BELPRO CONEX opened earlier this evening and News Five’s Ann Marie Williams found out that there’s plenty of local stuff worth seeing…and buying.
Merilyn Young, Organizer, BELPRO CONEX
“There’s some products that have just come out on the market that Belizeans will be able to sample. There are also some new items in respect to handicraft, in respect to furniture, in respect to beverages. So Belizeans will be able to see some of the old with some of the new and some of the improved old products that producers have gotten some technical and financial assistance both locally and abroad to improve their quality of their products.”
Ann Marie Williams
“Is there a particular message you’re hoping the Belizean consumers would get in terms of having this wide array of local produce on display?”
Merilyn Young
“Yes, I think that one of the things they should notice is that the government has been promoting, buy Belizean, support Belizeans and invest in Belize. This show is definitely highlighting and focusing on those same produce of those same Belizean investors. So, Belizeans will be able to come to show and see what is made locally and get some assistance from organizations like Business Bureau and BELTRAIDE on how to conceptionalize their ideas into becoming Belizean entrepreneurs and Belizean producers.”
The expo, organised by the Belize Business Bureau, is open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 6:00 at the Princess.
