Cops score big against cocaine dealers
In crime news police in Belize City and Dangriga have made major drug busts. Thirty-seven year old Conrad Lino of Hopkins Village was standing at the corner of St. Vincent Street and Yemeri Road in Dangriga around 11:00 Thursday morning when he was stopped by a police mobile patrol. When the cops opened Lino’s knapsack they found a package containing almost three pounds of cocaine. Lino has been charged with drug trafficking. And this morning police made an even bigger haul in the old capital. Troy Anthony Crawford, a twenty-four year old resident of Victoria Street, was found in possession of two packages of cocaine. One weighed slightly over an ounce but the other tipped the scale at over five pounds. Justice was swift as Crawford pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and was sentenced to three years in prison plus a ten thousand dollar fine for the big parcel and an additional three thousand dollar fine for the little one. If Crawford cannot come up with the three thousand dollars he will spend an additional three years at Hattieville.
