P.U.P. Blasts Barrow Administration over Sanctuary Bay Allegations
After the Prime Minister’s press conference, the People’s United Party fired a press release describing the PM’s conference as an attempt to clear the air. The P.U.P. says that Barrow “hastily convened a press conference to deal with the exposure in the U.S. court where he and some of his ministers were accused of possible knowledge and involvement in “massive fraud and money laundering” in the disgraced Sanctuary Bay saga.” In the release, the P.U.P. also says that the PM made no attempt to refute statements made in the U.S. Court document, which referred to Belize as a “major money laundering jurisdiction” and a “haven for illicit financial transactions.” The P.U.P. says that it is “a clear indictment of his Administration’s mismanagement of the financial affairs in Belize.”
