Orellana applauds reduction of border tensions
The Guatemalan delegation, while not in the business of predicting the future, believes that substantial progress has been made. Foreign Minister Gabriel Orellana, speaking to News Five’s Janelle Chanona last night, said that one important result of the negotiations was a relaxation of tensions on the border, and that hopefully misunderstandings of the past would not be repeated.

“We have to take the word for a Spanish wording that the water has passed under the bridge moves no mills. So, it occurred and what positive lesson we have learnt from that is that now our military representatives have agreed into certain ways to improve the communication between their counterparties. So we expect that this will greatly improve and enhance the relationship between the two armies.”
