Who Shot Raheem Chambers on LaCroix Boulevard?

Nineteen-year-old Raheem Chambers remains hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. after being shot near Lacroix Boulevard on Thursday night.  The incident is believed to be gang-related as police are saying that it is the result of an internal dispute within one of the gangs operating in the area.  Superintendent Alejandro Cowo says police are still investigating the Chambers’ shooting.

“On Thursday, July eleventh, just after seven p.m., police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they observed Raheem Chambers, eighteen years of age, with apparent gunshot wounds to his body.  What police have gathered so far is that Chambers was walking on M&M Street when he was approached by someone who fired several shots in his direction causing the injuries to him.  He was admitted and he is still in a critical but stable condition at this moment.”

“Okay, so now we‘ve seen a number of… we had an incident with Charles Young in that same area last weekend but he didn’t make a police report or a complaint.  But I am saying, is this an area of concern insofar as the number of shootings that have recently been seen?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“What we have been able to get from this shooting is that it is an internal feud that they have amongst that group at the back there that has caused a tension among them which has led to several shootings within that area amongst that group.”

“So we know that there are two active gangs in that area, at least two, PIV and BLC.  Is it feuding between those groups?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“No, it’s feuding amongst one group.”
