Kevin Jex Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter
Also in the court, a man accused of murder pleaded guilty to manslaughter. An argument between a security guard on the job and a hustler ended fatally for the guard who was ambushed, slashed in the head and repeatedly hit by his attacker and died days after. Today, Kevin Jex, accused of murdering forty-nine-year-old Desmond Miller, took a guilty plea to manslaughter instead of murder before Justice Marilyn Williams. Representing Jex was Leeroy Banner while the crown was represented by Sheneiza Smith. Justice Marilyn Williams has deferred sentencing for September thirtieth, 2019 when a mitigation plea will be heard as the court awaits a Social Inquiry Report as well as a Prison Report. Miller, a security guard with San Pedro Belize Water Express Taxi, was told by his boss not to allow Jex, inside the terminal. It led to an argument between the two. And in a caution statement, Jex told police that Miller chased him from the place and he was not allowed to hustle. Jex said he left the area picked up a board and hit Miller on his head. When Miller fell, he continued to hit him for about two or three times causing his death.
