Cops Found Guilty of Manslaughter

Corporals Leonard Nunez and Hallet King are tonight spending their time behind bars, in a cell at the Belize Central Prison. The cops were found guilty of manslaughter on Monday by a jury of nine for the death of eighteen year old Hilberto Sotz. During the trial, the jury was taken to the police station where the crime happened. The prosecution main witness was a man who was also detained at the police station the night when Sotz was killed. The witness told the court that he saw heard the agonizing screams of Sotz and when Nunez and King removed his lifeless body from the cell. The jury found both men unanimously guilty of the crime. Sotz was killed on June eight 2015, while he was in a holding cell at the Caye Caulker Police Station. He was brutally beaten by the two cops. An autopsy revealed that Sotz died of respiratory failure as a result of the beating he endured at the hands of Nunez and King.
