Is Selgado Being Targeted by Police?

While it is the second time Selgado has been pursued by law enforcement, the ComPol says that the attorney is not being targeted.  In fact, he says that there is sufficient proof that Selgado ordered and conspired to have Barnes murdered.

“It is not a matter, as some people are saying, that we are targeting him.  If it were that we were targeting him then he would have been arrested and charged for those ammunitions that were found in his vehicle at that particular moment.  So I will refute any suggestion that we are targeting him with no basis.  In this case, as I said before, we have good evidence to substantiate that there was indeed some discussion by him to eliminate a witness against him before the JLC.”

“Can you tell us what role, if any, prior to yesterday did the Director of Public Prosecutions play either in the evidence gathering or the mounting of the case against Mr. Selgado?”

“Well it is a complex case, I must say and so we have been in touch with the DPP from the inception of the receiving of the information and she has been providing the guidance to our investigating officer directing him on basically what he needs to confirm and what needs to be done because she wants to be sure that the evidence is there as well.  And when she was satisfied that we have enough then she made the order that he be arrested and charged.”
