In the mayhem in the city, just prior to this shooting, a Belize City teacher was shot in the head in the downtown area and is clinging to dear life. Thirty-six-year-old Allison Major was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is receiving emergency treatment. The shooting happened near the Swing Bridge where a crowd had gathered. Eyewitnesses tell News Five that police set chase after a red pickup truck which was being driven at the time by Major when the shooting occurred. It is unclear who shot him and how the incident unfolded. Video of the incident shows police removing an injured Major out of the driver’s seat of the red pickup truck and placing him in the pan of the police mobile almost ten minutes after he was shot.
