P.U.P. Leader says Party Ahead in Village Council Elections
Round four of the village council elections took place this past weekend. It saw the election of thirty-five new village councils across the country. But there seems to be a fundamental issue between both political parties. Both the P.U.P. and the U.D.P. are and have been claiming victory since the first round. Today, P.U.P. Leader John Briceño told the media that the Opposition is in the lead.

“We have of course very happy with five consecutive weeks of P.U.P. victories in villages all across Belize. In every district the P.U.P. has made significant gains and we want to start today by congratulating the more than one thousand true blue candidates who are proudly representing our party in our pledge to serve the people. We also wish to thank the thousands of Belizeans who are coming out to vote blue. Last year I said we are coming to lead and to win. We are leading and we are winning.”
Round five of the village council elections takes place this coming weekend in twenty-six villages in the Corozal, Orange Walk, Belize, and Cayo districts.
