A Teen is Arraigned for Murder of Nixon Pinto
A teenager has been arrested and charged for Tuesday’s murder of Nixon Pinto. Nineteen-year-old Jovi Hernandez, a Honduran national living in the village of Hattieville, was arraigned this evening in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a single charge of murder. Hernandez is accused of fatally stabbing eighteen-year-old Pinto during what police say was a beef between the teenagers. Hernandez was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until September nineteenth, 2019. It is alleged that he inflicted stab wounds on Pinto during an argument on Antelope Street in Belize City. Reports are that Hernandez pulled out an instrument and stabbed Pinto once to the right side of his chest. By the time police arrived at the scene, Pinto had been rushed to the K.H.M.H. for treatment, but succumbed.
