Youths prepare for religious rally

Thousands of Belize’s Christian young people representing a wide cross-section of denominations are expected to converge on the Belize City Centre for a “Life Changing Revival.” The event, which opens on Monday night, is being held under the auspices of the Assemblies of God Church. Today News 5 spoke with two of the organisers of the revival, Kevin Forrester and Pastor Ruth Pipersburgh.

Pastor Ruth Pipersburgh, Organiser, Youth Revival

“The purpose of this revival is to let Belize know that God is tired of the way that we’ve been doing things and that which we have been doing is not pleasing to him, and so his desire is for us to change. We want to let Belize know that he is God and he is worthy to be praised. So we’ll be having young people from over the country coming together at the City Centre to lift up the name of Jesus and to say unto God, “we are not satisfied, we desire more.”

Ann-Marie Williams

“When is the opening of the revival and when are the different activities planned?”

Pastor Ruth Pipersburgh

“The opening is July the sixteenth and it starts at 7:00. The next day at 9:00 we’ll be having conference with different guest speakers and in the night we’ll be having the revival service at 7:00. At 2:00 we’ll be going out in the streets and we’ll be giving out tracts and just evangelising the city of Belize and proclaiming the name of Jesus and let our Belizeans and our young people realise that there is a difference and God desires more of us and he desire that out heart be changed.”

Kevin Forrester, Christian Youth

“We plan to feed like two thousand young people, and it doesn’t matter what age, everybody needs this revival. We will allow God to move, that’s why it’s not a denominational thing, it’s about relationship. We are just holding on, singing to what God will do, and he has done things as we have been around the whole nation proclaiming this and we have seen them moved, but the full force will come.”

The “Life Changing Revival” is open to the Belizean public; admission is free.
