Raheem Chambers Hospitalized; 1 Man Charged with Attempted Murder
While robbers targeted a restaurant on Saint Thomas Street, in the south side, a teen was shot multiple times on Thursday night and is recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Eighteen-year-old Raheem Chambers was on M and Y Street walking towards Holy Emmanuel Street when he was attacked by a man who pulled out a gun and fired several shots in his direction. Chambers was injured in the abdomen and rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he underwent surgery. He is listed in a critical, but stable condition. It is not known what triggered the gun violence, but police are investigating.
Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division
“Mr. Chambers is still hospitalized. His health condition is getting better and better every day and he is in a stable condition at this moment. I know that Earl Baptist was charged yesterday for that offence of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm caused to Raheem Chambers.”
Reporter
“We know that two other Chambers persons had been shot at the week before or earlier that week. Is this a systematic targeting of that family due to an inter-gang rivalry?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“Yes, we do believe so. We are also looking for a person reference that shooting of the two other brothers that happened one day before the shooting of Mr. Raheem.”
