Lawsuit Against ComPol Williams is Adjourned to September
This morning before Justice Shona Griffith, a hearing for judicial review in a case filed by Corporal Eldon Arzu against Commissioner of Police Chester Williams stalled yet again. Arzu is challenging a directive from the ComPol in which he cannot serve as the president of the Belize Police Association after having served in that capacity for two consecutive terms. Despite being granted leave for judicial review back in May, attorney Stacey Grinage failed to enter a document related to the matter on the July seventeenth deadline, prompting an adjournment to the end of September. Prior to returning to a desk job in Belmopan, Corporal Arzu had been absent from active duty as a police officer and his salary was subsequently frozen. The validity of Arzu’s presidency is being challenged before the high court.
