Carjacker surprises Belmopan motorist
Carjacking is an urban affliction that, until now, has not been much of a factor in Belize’s crime statistics. That a carjacking apparently occurred Wednesday night is unusual but even more so that it took place in Belmopan, the capital city better known for its laid back lifestyle than violent criminal activity. At around 9:00, twenty-six year old Pablo Ayala was about to get into his Toyota pickup parked on Ambergris Avenue when an unknown assailant appeared, pointed a gun at him, grabbed his keys and drove away. Police are yet to find the culprit, but if viewers see a gold coloured double cab Hi-Lux with Cayo plate C-15650 they are asked to call the nearest station.
