Recruiting the Best Men and Women to Join the B.D.F.

Brandon Garcia

The B.D.F. is looking for a few good men and women to add to its ranks and over the weekend the force concluded the first phase of its recruitment process where aspiring soldiers from across the country were tested in both theory and practical. A provision was also made for female recruits outside of the session to ensure that the new intake is gender inclusive. Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Garcia shares details.

“The foundation of the recruiting drive is to ensure that we stood up a new rifle battalion after they pass out.”

“What was that process like?”

Lt. Col. Brandon Garcia

“We look for ages eighteen to twenty-three; physically fit. Whenever there is a recruiting drive, you need to bring all your documents, social security card, yo police record and you have a written and a physical test. Who is successful in both of those will actually enter into recruit training. They need to be physically and mentally robust. Being a soldier is not a job, it is a profession. You will learn some skills that you will eventually apply and the reason why there is such an increase in the turnover rate, because there are standards that the recruits must meet. And if they do not meet those standards we have to let them try again if they so see it fit.”
