Story Picture
It took a few days for the winner of Saturday’s sixty-five thousand dollar lotto jackpot to come forward, but today she showed up to claim her cheque. Twenty-six year old Erlinda Lovelock, a mother of three and resident of East Collet Canal in Belize City, did not find out until Monday that she won the money. She explained to News 5’s Jose Sanchez, the method she used to pick the lucky numbers.

Jose Sanchez

“How did you pick the numbers?”

Erlinda Lovelock, $65,000 Lotto Winner

“Me, my kids and their dad’s date of birth.”

Jose Sanchez

“What were the numbers?”

Erlinda Lovelock

“Eight, twelve, fifteen, three and twenty.”

Jose Sanchez

“How much money have you gotten and how do you plan to use it?”

Erlinda Lovelock

“We haven’t decided yet, it’s sixty-five thousand deductible tax.”

Jose Sanchez

“You have any special thing in mind for it, maybe you want to buy a gift for your husband and kids.”

Erlinda Lovelock

“We haven’t really decided. Maybe when we really see the money in the bank, then.”

Jose Sanchez

“Did you jump for joy, did you believe you won?”

Erlinda Lovelock

“I couldn’t believe it. I still don’t believe it.”

After government takes nine thousand, seven hundred and fifty dollars in taxes, Lovelock will be left with fifty-five thousand, two hundred and fifty dollars to put in the bank. The new lotto jackpot is twenty-five thousand dollars and you can see the draw tonight at nine, right here on Channel 5.
