A Basketball Tournament in Honor of Major Pain
Thirty-six-year-old Allyson Major Junior will be laid to rest on Saturday in Belize City, while an investigation is yet to be concluded into the circumstances surrounding his shooting death at the hands of a team of police officers. Despite the tragedy that has befallen friends and family of the well-known athlete, the Caribbean Shores community was drawn together on Thursday night when they converged on the Buttonwood Bay Park. On the basketball court, teams gathered to play against each other in honor of their fallen friend. The event saw the outdoor facility being refurbished ahead of the tournament which was held without incident. Present at the games were Area Representative Kareem Musa and Standard Bearer Lee Mark Chang. Allyson Major was shot and killed by police during a vehicular pursuit through the streets of downtown Belize City on the afternoon of July sixteenth. In the wake of the incident, four officers have been placed on interdiction pending the outcome of the inquiry.
