Dr. Avila moves to post at CARICOM

The chief executive officer in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Marcelino Avila, will be leaving his post to take up a position with the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana. Avila, who has also served on the boards of several important institutions, has been appointed manager for CARICOM’s Sectoral Programmes. Among his duties will be development of regional policies for agriculture, fisheries, industry, tourism and transportation. Sergio Garcia will serve as acting CEO in the ministry until a permanent replacement for Dr. Avila is appointed.
