Delegation heads to CARICOM Summit in Bahamas
A delegation led by Prime Minister Said Musa left the country today en route to the Bahamas for the twenty-second CARICOM Summit. The meeting, which opens on Tuesday, will deal largely with trade matters, centring on the implementation of the CARICOM single market and economy. Other major issues include the Caribbean Court of Justice and the AIDS crisis in the region. Belize will also be seeking strong support in our ongoing efforts to resist Guatemala’s unfounded claim to the country. Accompanying the Prime Minister is Ambassador Eamon Courtenay, trade CEO Cresencio Sosa, Foreign Affairs officer Lawrence Sylvestre and economist Richard Reid of the Ministry of Economic Development.
