Suspect arrested in Corozal robbery

A suspect has been arrested in a brutal robbery which occurred Tuesday night in Corozal. Nineteen year old Kirk Belisle, also known as “Small,” of Tigris Street in Belize City, has been charged with aggravated burglary for an incident in which an elderly Chinese couple were assaulted and robbed. Seventy-eight year old businessman Samuel Lowe of Sixth Street in Corozal reported to police that he and his wife were at home around 11:00 p.m. when two masked men kicked down the door and entered. One had a gun, the other a knife. After demanding money, the intruders hit Lowe’s wife on the head and he was cut on the wrist. The couple was then tied up while the robbers took cash, a Rolex watch, BTL cards and other items worth around four thousand dollars. An intense investigation led police to a house in San Antonio Village where Belisle was found hiding in the yard. A search revealed twenty-four BTL cards and the watch, which Lowe identified as his Rolex. A second suspect is still being sought.
